MacDonald
Work
History:
Andy
MacDonald began his career with Canada Trust in 1986 as
a part-time teller and worked his way up the corporate
ladder to the position of Manager, Residential Mortgages.
After gaining extensive knowledge of the inner working
of the mortgage industry he left the company in 1995 to
pursue a more entreprenurial career in the finace industry.
In
the spring of 1995 he joined KMS as an independent mortgage
broker. He dealt with all aspects of mortgage financing
including residential and commercial mortgages.
On
January 4, 2000, Andy left KMS and opened his own full
service mortgage brokerage, MortgageBroker Inc.
When
asked what he enjoys most about his work he said, "The
thing I enjoy most is helping out the little guy. The
average Canadian is at a distinct disadvantage when dealing
with their bankers. There is nothing better than going
into the corners for the little guy and getting an aggressive
rate discount out of the banks."
With
this thought in mind, Andy created the Mortgages In Canada
Discussion Group in the spring of 1995 to help educate
Canadians about their mortgages. To date there are over
550 subscribers to this group from all across the country.
Be sure to view the testimonials to see what several satisfied
Canadians have said about the discussion group and the
type of service received from Andy.
Education:
- Mortgage
Broker Post-Diploma Certificate Program, Seneca College,
1998
- The
Canadian Investment Funds Course, 1991
- BA,
Major in Economics, The University of Western Ontario,
1990
Personal:
Andy
MacDonald is an avid hockey fan. When not arranging
mortgages, he can be found playing hockey two or three
times a week with the rest of the "Nooners" in Oakville.
He has coached minor hockey for five years and is
a big leaf fan.
On
January 2, 2000 Andy decided to start the new century
off right by marrying his sweetheart, Josephine.
In
his free time Andy is learning to play the fiddle,
much to the chagrin of his new bride and long time
friends. : ) Other interests include camping, canoeing
and singing Stan Rogers tunes.
